Provost Fellows - 2005-6, 2006-7
The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences:
Meredith Brown About Meredith's Research & Interests: I am interested in probability and stochastic processes. I am currently studying Lévy processes, a general class of stochastic processes which includes Brownian motion and the Poisson process. In particular, I am looking at Lévy processes with jumps. |

Shoshoni Caine About Shoni's Research & Interests: I am interested in organ development and regeneration. My doctoral research focuses on pronephric kidney regeneration in the amphibian, Xenopus laevis. I would like to determine the differential gene expression during the regenerative process in tadpoles undergoing early organ morphogenesis. |

Lata Parwani About Lata's Research & Interests: I am a doctoral student studying modern South Asia in the History Department. My regional focus is on twentieth century colonial and post-colonial Sindh, in present-day Pakistan. My research interests include national, regional, and religious identities, history and memory, modern Islam, and Sufism in South Asia.
|
Claudia Stumpf About Claudia's Research & Interests: I am interested in studying the intersection of gender and Christianity in the literature of the last two centuries. Specifically, I'm looking at how Christianity is used against women as a tool of oppression or by women as a tool of empowerment.
|
Negin Toosi About Negin's Research & Interests: I am interested in examining, crossing, and blurring the lines that are typically drawn between different social groups. For me, this translates into research about multi-racial identity development, intersections of gender and racial groups, and the nature of privilege, guilt, and responsibility.

Caprice Gray About Cappy's Research & Interests: In order to study the fluid mechanics involved in chemical mechanical polishing we are using an optical technique known as Dual Emission LaserInduced Fluorescence (DELIF). This technique allows us to measure slurry age/mixing, fluid temperature, and slurry film thickness beneath a glass wafer during polishing. |
The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy:
Susanna Campbell
|

Devin Jessee About Devin's Research & Interests: I am a doctoral student at The Fletcher School. My doctoral research is centered on how nonstate armed groups (terrorists, insurgents, militias, and organized criminals) use deception as an element of their strategy against states. I am specifically researching whether barriers exist that keep nonstate armed groups from employing deception on strategic levels. My general academic interests are in the fields of international security studies, negotiation and conflict resolution, and international organizations. I live with my wife and daughter in Arlington, MA.
|
Christof Kurz About Christof's Research & Interests: I graduated with a MALD degree from the Fletcher School in 1999. After working with development and relief agencies for six years in Washington, DC, Azerbaijan, Sierra Leone, and Sudan, I returned to the Fletcher School in the fall of 2005 to pursue a PhD. My dissertation research will focus on the reconstruction of failed states in West Africa, specifically in Sierra Leone. My general academic interests include state building processes, international conflict resolution, development economics and the theory and practice of relief and development aid. |
The Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences:

Maureen Sherry About Maureen's Research & Interests: I am interested in studying human disease on a cellular level. I am especially interested in signal transduction in cancer and hope to eventually conduct my thesis research in that field.
